KCI Museum Mannequin
One characteristic of Western fashion is clothing forms that change with each era. Dressing mannequins is the most effective way to display such clothing. In order to properly display clothing with forms different from those of today, however, mannequins with the body types of respective eras are essential.
The Kyoto Costume Institute (KCI) addressed this issue early on. In its founding stage, KCI sought the cooperation of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and developed KCI Museum Mannequin with support on technical issues from Nanasai Co., Ltd. The most important characteristics of the mannequins are that they have the body types of the four eras, into which we divided the period from the 18th century to early 20th century, and that they are fitted with special joints enabling movement similar to that of the human body.
In addition, KCI performed the development of the 18th century male mannequin.
Beginning with export to La Galleria del Costume, Pallazzo Pitti in Italy, KCI Museum Mannequin are now being used in museums and schools all over the world in such countries as USA, UK, France, Australia, Austria and Germany.
※These mannequins are supervised by the KCI, and NANASAI CO.,LTD. is in charge for the sale of the mannequins.
